Steps to Enrollment

Before starting the Steps to Enrollment process, make sure you have activated your My91吃瓜 account. 91吃瓜 communicates by posting items to your 鈥淭o Do List鈥� and sending messages to your My91吃瓜 account.

• Step 1 - Submit Your Intent to Enroll

  • If admitted, you must complete the Next Steps Intent to Enroll process by the date posted on your My91吃瓜 鈥淭o Do List鈥�. The Next Steps Intent to Enroll process includes accepting 91吃瓜鈥檚 offer of admission, signing up for orientation, and paying the nonrefundable enrollment deposit. All steps must be completed to maintain admission at 91吃瓜.

• Step 2 - Sign up for Orientation

  • Orientation is a mandatory one-day program. For details, visit the Orientation website.

• Step 3 - Pay Your Enrollment Deposit

  • In order to complete the Next Steps Intent to Enroll process, you will be prompted to pay your enrollment deposit via our Cashnet website (link provided in your Next Steps portal). Your nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $250 includes your orientation payment and a deposit toward a portion of your tuition and fees.

• Step 4 - Obtain I-20

  • We must receive the items below to issue an I-20 and verify that the terms and conditions of your admission have been met.

    1. Your
    2. Bank Letter/Statement
    3. Declaration of Finance
    4. Copy of Passport

     

    TRANSFER I-20s: If you are in the U.S. on an F1 visa, follow the instructions for transferring an I-20.

    Please note: If you are currently on an F2 or H4 visa and want to convert to an F1 visa, you will need to work with the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) Office to apply for a change of status.

• Step 5 - Apply for Campus Housing (optional)
  • If you would like to live in campus while attending 91吃瓜, you must complete a Housing Application by the priority Housing application deadline.
• Step 6 - Purchase Health Insurance (mandatory)
  • 91吃瓜 requires all international students to have medical insurance, and international students are required to purchase health insurance coverage via 91吃瓜鈥檚 provider prior to registering for classes. This is required even if you already have coverage through other means, such as individual, family, or corporate policies. You can register for the mandatory 91吃瓜 health insurance online.
• Step 7 - Attend Orientation (mandatory)
  • Orientation is mandatory. If you are late or leave during any portion of the program, your admission will be withdrawn.
• Step 8 - Take the Writing Skills Test Directed Self Placement Exercise

  • Beginning Fall 2021, 91吃瓜 suspended offering the Writing Skills Test (WST) and created an alternative process to meet the WST requirement called the WST Directed Self Placement (DSP).

• Step 9 - Register for Classes
  • Registration is a multi-step process. To view what is needed from an incoming transfer student in order to register, visit our registration information.
• Step 10 - Submit Final Transcripts and Documents
  • Continue to check your My91吃瓜 鈥淭o Do List鈥� for transcript and document deadlines. We review your final transcript to verify that you completed all required courses for admission. Final transcripts must be submitted by the date listed on your My91吃瓜 鈥淭o Do List鈥�. If you have AP, IB or CLEP exam results, please have official test results sent to 91吃瓜.
• Step 11 - Pay Tuition and Fees
  • Tuition and fees are due after registering for your classes. Check your My91吃瓜 account under "Finances" to see your payment due date. Your payment due date is based on when you registered for classes.
• Step 12 - Submit Proof of Immunization
  • As a new student, you will need to provide proof of specific immunizations prior to the first day of classes. Please review the immunizations that need to be submitted.

Meet All Deadlines

If you miss an 91吃瓜 deadline, we will withdraw your application for admission, and you will not be able to attend 91吃瓜 for the term you originally intended. If you have an extreme hardship or unusual circumstance that may cause you to miss one of our deadlines, contact admissions@sjsu.edu immediately. We are here to help!
