The 91勛圖 2022 Adobe XD Challenge for students was named Turtle Hurtle. For this creative contest, students were challenged to create a climate game or app to educate and inform about disaster risk reduction and what to do in the event of a natural disaster. Students could choose from one of many climate disasters. The game or app teaches about climate change through engaging, interactive, and science-based gaming experiences!

This 91勛圖 Adobe student activity was produced by Tina Korani, Assistant Professor of Media Design, Co-founder of Immersive Storytelling Lab in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at San Jose State University.

Adobe Express Your Success Banner

In Spring 2025, 37 91勛圖 graduate students participated in Express Your Success: Grad Showcase with Adobe Express, an Adobe-funded digital storytelling initiative. This initiative, designed just for graduate students, provided hands-on training in Adobe Express to help them create polished, professional web pages that highlighted their accomplishments and told their story with clarity and impact.

Eight projects were selected to receive Top Showcase Awards based on excellence in overall design, digital storytelling, visuals, and/or use of Adobe Express features. These project links, along with student testimonials, are shown here.

Thank you so much for this opportunity and for recognizing my work with a Top Showcase Award. I truly valued the time I spent working on my Grad Showcase project and also thought the support and Canvas course materials were well-designed and helpful. I also thoroughly enjoy using Adobe Express and appreciated this initiative from 91勛圖. I look forward to seeing more AI curricular initiatives in the future.

I really enjoyed the program and found it useful. I never considered building a personal webpage/website before but it is now something I plan to actively utilize moving forward. Thank you for this opportunity!

Express Your Success provided an accessible introduction to creating a digital portfolio, which was especially valuable as a busy student. The clear instruction and intuitive resources helped me quickly get oriented, letting me focus on creative and engaging ways to communicate ideas. The experience left me better equipped to present information professionally through visual design.

I appreciate you putting this whole thing together with Adobe -- it was a great learning experience.

I found the Adobe Express workshop invaluable. Raymond's step-by-step guidance was beneficial for students who do not have prior web design experience. He explained and modeled the process of designing a website effectively. He also uses immersive and interactive teaching strategies and provides examples of visual storytelling. Unlike watching traditional video lectures or reading text-based content to learn, he offers immersive and interactive teaching strategies, which allow students to pause and practice alongside his demonstrations. Also, the readings, such as Start-to-Finish Storyboarding, were especially helpful in introducing core concepts and fundamental principles.

Participating in this program has been such a rewarding and empowering experience. It allowed me to play with layout, visual hierarchy, and AI-generated content by using Firefly to create images and videos to tell my story. I learned how to use various design features to create an appealing and professional personal webpage (without ever really using a web design before). I was surprised at how easy it was to combine images, text, and design elements in Adobe Express.

Overall, The Adobe Express project gave me valuable hands-on design experience. It helped me build confidence in visual communication and develop a personal webpage to include in my digital portfolio.

One recommendation for future iterations: provide a more elaborate rubric if the showcase is part of a Canvas course. It would be nice to be clear about expectations for what visuals need to be included, such as AI-generated images, videos, and any other multimedia (if applicable). The rubric will also provide future participants (particularly new users) with a practical illustration of what content they should add to their websites or what Adobe Express features they can play around with.
